Walking and Rambling
The inn is conveniently located on both the Cambrian Way Long Distance Footpath Birmingham to Aberystwyth Long Distance Path. From Pontrhydfendigaid, you may enjoy strenuous mountain walks, or more leisurely strolls where you will find little known, but fascinating, historic and natural features. The Strata Florida Abbey is a short walk away.
Close by you will be able to walk on old and new paths across and into a National Nature Reserve, the remarkable raised bog of Cors Caron, one of the finest of its type in Europe. Within a few miles you can walk or drive to see and walk among an extraordinary wilderness of Cambrian mountain and the valleys of the Ystwyth and Rheidol rivers.
Nearby, close to Pontrhydygroes, are the grounds of the famous Hafod estate, a restored 18th century landscape with waterfalls and views. At the arch picnic site is the start of the Pwllpeiran trail, a 4.5 mile permissive trail gives visitors new vistas ove the Hafod and the upper Ystwyth valley.
